AlphaZero's future chess rival | Leela Chess Zero (LCZero)
Remember Google’s self-learning AI AlphaZero? You know, the machine learning chess beast that made use of its deep neural networks to go on to smash the top chess engine Stockfish 8 in a 100-game match. Well AlphaZero now has a future rival in Leela Chess Zero! Part of what makes Leela Chess Zero very interesting is that you can view the games she has played, contribute to helping her grow stronger, and even play against her at any level up to her strongest level. At the time of this video upload, Leela Chess Zero’s approximate chess playing strength is around 2000 (Expert level), and it was obtained after “just” 1.6 million self-play games. What strength might she reach after, let’s say, 100 million self-play games? And what can we, in turn, learn from her? The sky may very well be the limit for Leela Chess Zero (LCZero).

I’m a self-taught National Master in chess out of Pennsylvania, USA who was introduced to the game by my father in 1988 at the age of 8. The purpose of this channel is to share my knowledge of chess to help others improve their game. I enjoy continuing to improve my understanding of this great game, albeit slowly.
